I first saw these little guys in terrariums made by Twig. If you're not familiar with Twig terrariums, then get ready to be wowed! The two ladies behind those amazing creations took Brooklyn by storm, and helped launch the terrarium trend into a full blown obsession for lots of people. Plus, I knew them back when they were only selling at craft fairs and out of their tiny NYC apartments, and they are some of the nicest ladies I ever met! Head to their website and check out their terrariums to see what a big impact a tiny figurine can have. Both of the images in this post are from Twig.
Fairy houses are great, but they are appealing to a limited audience. Preiser has hundreds of figurines to choose from, from quirky and silly (burlesque dancers, obese tourists, circus acts, vintage beach-goers) to classic and traditional (a couple kissing or sitting on a bench - hello valentines day!, bicyclists, painters, etc.). There are gravestones for Halloween terrariums, Brides and Grooms for wedding terrariums, graduates, animals, hikers, rock climbers, scuba divers, tons of different occupations - if you can dream a situation that would be great in a tiny terrarium, they've got a good fit.
So, I propose an idea! On behalf of myself and all terrarium hobbyists, please consider adding a small selection of Preiser figurines to your terrarium supply selection. You can email Preiser to inquire about becoming a wholesaler at firstname.lastname@example.org - their website is in German, but the images will give you a good indication of the vast selection available. You can also download their catalogs by clicking here.
Until next time!
